Why bother with a template?
Most people put off organizing their client and vendor documents until the folder structure is already a mess — by then, reorganizing everything feels like a bigger job than just living with the chaos. Starting with a clean, consistent structure from day one (or resetting to one) makes everything after it easier: filing, finding things later, and handing off to a bookkeeper or accountant who didn't build the mess themselves.
What's included
- A Clients folder, pre-structured per client with Invoices, Receipts, Statements, and Contracts subfolders
- A Vendors folder for supplier/vendor paperwork, kept separate from client documents
- A Fall Back folder — a safety net for anything you're not sure where to file, so nothing just gets left on the Desktop
- A short README explaining how to adapt it to your own clients and vendors
Doing this by hand gets old fast
A good folder structure solves where things should go — it doesn't solve the part where you still have to drag every attachment there yourself. If you'd rather that happen automatically, TurtleSave watches your inbox and files every attachment into the right folder the moment it arrives, using this exact structure or your own.
